Step 3. Identify the sigmoid sinus (continued)

3.2 Remove cortical bone within this triangle. It is wise to assume the sigmoid sinus is more anterior and the middle fossa more inferior than the marked positions. Remove the bone with a large cutting burr sweeping parallel to the inscription on the surface. Display the position of the tegmen mastoideum.
